A New Year Message from the people at FINN'S!

Happy New Year everyone - and what a sensational close to 2009, it was!

Its been a challenging year for all involved, on a business and personal level. Some losses and wins but what the hey, every new year presents fresh new opportunities yes? Expect some new, exciting changes with FINN'S as we roll into 2010 with fresh new offerings, events and *nudge nudge* a new outlet outside of Kuala Lumpur!

On a deeper note I was recently asked to share my thoughts with a friend about what FINN'S meant to me now that I have been on board for a little over three years. I thought it would be nice to share this with you, dear reader and friend, because alot of it is inspired by you - the fabulous people I meet via FINN'S.

Happy 2010 and see you around!
Melly

I love my job.

I get to work with an excellent team of friendly, fun and creative people. I enjoy brain-storming over a pint of GUINNESS and Lamb Stew about our newest events and promotions. Our customers are more like friends; we know everyone by name if not faces; we have a natter about politics, the weather and economy on Wednesday afternoons when they need to escape a moment of madness in the office.

Its only normal to inundate people with marketing-savvy quips like "we offer outstanding service", "fresh beers" and "great food" and really - would you do otherwise? I was a a regular customer of FINNEGAN'S for 5 years before I joined the team as an employee and although I stand on the different side of the fence I don't feel like there's a "fence", really. Sure, sometimes we make mistakes and we encourage people to tell us when we do because we're only human, and we can't improve without a good 20 seconds of constructive criticism. That being said, a lot of thought and care goes into the daily process of running the business; from operations to marketing to entertainment. We aspire to "keep it real" for people and that is exemplified in our constant efforts in ensuring FINN'S is a place people from all walks of life can call home - whether they live in Malaysia or out of.

The things that make me smile about FINN'S?

  • Downing Irish Car Bombs with Gavin and Sparky from Folksmen DC on St Pad's
  • Live telecast of international cricket games, with the pub packed by people of all ages and nationalities (and people on the streets stopping to catch a glimpse of the action!)
  • A child soaking her chips with ketchup while Dad tries to introduce her to honey baked ham
  • People enjoying the sun on the terrace with a cold beer, accompanied by their dogs

In short, all the little pleasures in life.

That's how I feel about us and what we aspire for everyone who walks into FINN'S.
